F20 Flux, Thousand Mountain, 2023, Oil Painting, 24 x 24 in
About the Artist: Jung Tae Lee is a Korean contemporary painter known for his atmospheric landscapes rendered in luminous shades of blue. A graduate of the Department of Western Painting at Seoul National University (1991), he has presented 38 solo exhibitions across Korea and the United States and has been active internationally since expanding his practice to the U.S. in 2021.
Lee’s work explores the passage of time in nature through recurring motifs of mountains, oceans, moonlight, atmosphere, and blooming flowers. Combining Eastern and Western artistic traditions, he creates intricate compositions built from thousands of dots and lines, evoking both pointillism and meditative landscape painting. His distinctive visual language transforms flowers into expansive landscapes and landscapes back into flowers, blurring the boundaries between observation and imagination. Rich in rhythm and subtle movement, his paintings invite contemplation while conveying a sense of psychological calm and spiritual reflection. Through these immersive works, Lee captures nature not as a fixed place, but as a living, ever-changing expression of memory, light, and emotion.
